Canada Rules World

When it comes to knowing about the world, Canada reigns supreme.

Team Canada claimed gold today at the National Geographic World Championship, held at the National Museum of Anthropology and History in Mexico City.

Team U.S.A. came in second and took silver …

…while Poland, which lagged the United States by just a single point, earned bronze medals with a third-place finish.

All the competitors were among the top few contenders in national geographic bees held in each of their countries. They weathered preliminary competition with students representing more than a dozen other nations earlier this week to vie for top honors in today’s final match.

U.S. television quiz show Jeopardy host Alex Trebek moderated the finals, as he has the United Stated finals at Nat Geo headquarters for many years.
