While we don’t usually actualize all our animal impulses, many of us are prone to one vice or another. We try to be good people and do the right thing. What happens when you just can’t control yourself and just need to break lose? That’s a good time to try to hack your own brain. Brain hacking, to the uninitiated, involves identifying a neural mechanism that’s adapted to do one task, and then exploiting/hijacking this mechanism to do another. And it’s easier than you think.
Let’s say you’ve got a problem with sloth, or laziness. No matter what you seem to do, you just don’t have enough energy and you can’t get through the most rote of tasks. Using a brain hack of chunking will help sequence your actions and simplify your routine to the point where you’ll be more active than ever.
