Video: Mayor Bloomberg champions the role of cities at WRI event

At Transforming Transportation 2013, a recent World Resources Institute (WRI) event , C40 City Chair and Mayor of New York City Michael R. Bloomberg discussed the role of mayors and cities in contrast to federal governments and international bodies:

“When you are tackling the environment or crime or education or transportation, that’s basically done at the local city level…We know how to build the roads, we know what we need and what works in our city, and mayors and the C40 are a good example.”

When it comes to the climate change challenge and other global issues, Mayor Bloomberg is a strong believer in the role of cities – rather than federal governments – to enact real change.
