Guillermo Alfonso Castellanos Castro, a 24 year-old journalism student from Colombia, captured this photograph in Chaguani, a small village in Cundinamarca. It portrays a street teather company called ¨Nemcatacoa Teatro.¨
This photograph has been awarded the First Prize in Kike Calvo Photo Contest: Sandisk Latin American Edition. The photograph was selected from thousands of photo submissions from around the world.
The jury was formed by National Geographic editor Elizabeth Krist; Katrin Eismann, photographer, author and chair of the MPS in Digital Photography Department at School of Visual Arts in New York; and myself.
For those of you who love photography and are living in Latin America, The Caribbean or Spain, you can still enter Kike Calvo Mentor Awards until April 30th, 2013. This contest is about dreaming, is about giving many in Latin America, Spain or the Caribbean an opportunity to dream as I did; to thank the region for all their sincere support and love during all these years; and to grant two people, an amazing set of prizes, including the ¨Enrique Calvo In Memoriam Award¨, which will allow someone to travel to New York ( thanks to the support of Fotógrafos al Mundo and Escuela para Aprender a Vivir ) and learn photography with me for a few days, and receive thousands of dollars in photographic prizes. As I always say, Never Stop Dreaming!!!
